After Indonesian pencak silat masters Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman took on Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, we’ve got another cinematic battle between an Indonesian martial arts legend and a Hollywood action hero to look forward to.
Iko Uwais, best known as the lead in the Indonesian action movie The Raid and its sequel, is starring in the upcoming action-comedy film Stuber as a blonde-haired villain with a face tattoo who’s being pursued by a cop, played by Guardians of The Galaxy and Avengers star Dave Bautista. In the new red-band trailer released on Saturday, you can see more of Iko in action compared to the film’s previous two trailers, which were released in April and May.
According to the film’s official synopsis, ‘Stuber’ tells a story of a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu, played by comedian/actor Kumail Nanjiani, who picks up Bautista’s character, a passenger who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer. Stu is thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating.

Last year, Iko starred in Mile 22 alongside Mark Wahlberg and The Night Comes For Us, an Indonesian action film directed by Timo Tjahjanto that was released on Netflix. He also starred in Beyond Skyline (2017) as well as Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), along with Yayan and Cecep, in a cameo that lasted less than five minutes.
Directed by Michael Dowse, Stuber also stars fellow Guardians and Avengers star Karen Gillan, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Mira Sorvino, as well as Youtuber and Netflix’s American Vandal actor Jimmy Tatro.
Stuber hits Indonesian cinema this July, but the exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
