Filmmaking is an art form that encompasses many skills, including directing, cinematography and editing. But it takes a very particular kind of skill to take a feature length movie and compress it into a two or three minute trailer that conveys everything awesome about that movie without giving too much away.
As we mentioned to you before, there’s now an Indonesian award competition specifically created to honor the country’s best film trailer. The annual Indonesia Film Trailer Awards will be held for the first time ever on September 3 at Usmar Ismail Hall and now we know which trailers will be competing.
The nominated trailers will be competing in categories like sound design and editing…
…but of course the biggest award will be for the best trailer of the past year. Here are the nominees:

Filosofi Kopi: The Movie’
Killers
The Raid 2: Berandal
It’s hard to separate our feelings about the trailers from the full-length movies, but if you’ve seen our “Top Indonesian Films of 2014” list you can probably guess which trailer we like the best. But which one do you think should come out on top?
The awarding ceremony is actually open to the public (e-mail contact@indonesiatrailer.com with the subject line “Nonton IFTA 2015” to reserve your spot) so you can witness the announcement of the winner in person.
