K-pop’s got the bops that have captured the hearts of many Indonesians, including, it seems, Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s eldest son Gibran Rakabuming.
Gibran, owner of popular martabak chain Markobar, seemed appeared pretty excited about popular K-pop boyband iKON’s upcoming Jakarta concert on Sunday, so much so that via a tweet from Markobar’s official account, he offered the singing-and-dancing septet a lifetime supply of martabak, only if they came to one of his chains.
It was a warm welcome indeed from the president’s son, and surely it would be hard for anyone to resist infinite martabak goodness.
Unfortunately for iKON, they never even got a chance to accept the offer as Gibran’s tweet was met with a cold response from the promoter of iKON’s concert, Mecima Pro, due to a small intellectual property rights issue. They quoted Gibran’s original tweet and replied: “We don’t have an official partnership with Markobar, please do not use the [concert] poster for your promotion. Thank you for your cooperation”.

Mecima Pro’s tweet has since been taken down after many netizens mocked them for being overly delicate about such a trivial issue. Gibran, for his part, didn’t seem too fussed by the scolding tweet, although he did fairly pretty bummed out by it:

There goes my failed attempt in being a fan
Eh, the calories from martabak probably wouldn’t have done iKON any good anyway.
