Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show lifted by wings from Indonesian designers Tex Saverio & Rinaldy A. Yunardi

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has grown to become one of the biggest fashion events of the year, featuring a lineup of the world’s top models, superstar musical acts and outrageously expensive outfits (like a $3 million bra). This year’s VSFS took place in Paris last weekend and it showcased the increasingly global nature of the intimate wear spectacular, with a number of Asian supermodels such as Ming Xi and Xiao Wen Ju strutting their stuff on stage and designers from outside the US and Europe stealing the spotlight with their stunning designs.

Among the sartorialists whose work appeared on stage are Tex Saverio and Rinaldy A. Yunardi, two of Indonesia’s most celebrated and successful designers. They designed the wings and shoulder pieces for the Dark Angel segment of this year’s show.

Brazilian model Iza Goulart took to the runway in this outfit featuring elegant arachnid wings courtesy of Tex Saverio, a Jakarta-born designer who has consistently wowed the fashion world with his ethereal, otherworldly looks. Lady Gaga has worn his designs several times and he designed some of the outfits for the Hunger Games movies.

American supermodel Devon Windsor got the honor of wearing dark feathery wings from Rinaldy A. Yunardi, who has been long been one of Indonesia’s much sought-after designers of high-end bespoke accessories.

In an interview, Rinaldy said that he worked on his wing design, which is meant to evoke a heart shape, for about 3 months.

“I’m definitely thankful, I was still taking care of this and that in Indonesia when I suddenly received information that my accessory was worn during Victoria’s Secret [Fashion Show]. I am happy,” Rinaldy told Liputan 6. He also thanked Tex for helping him to get the opportunity to contribute to the show.
