Two of K-pop’s biggest acts BTS and BLACKPINK are set to perform at Tokopedia’s major online shopping tonight, to the delight of the legions of ARMY and BLINKs in Indonesia.

Titled Waktu Indonesia Belanja (Indonesia Shopping Time, with the title being a play on Western Indonesia Time or WIB, as it is abbreviated locally), the event promotes the e-commerce giant’s monthly promo. It will air simultaneously on NET. TV and SCTV, while also live streamed on Tokopedia’s app through its streaming platform, Tokopedia PLAY, and its YouTube channel from 8pm to 9:30pm.

Both BTS and BLACKPINK, arguably the biggest K-pop acts today, are likely to perform their hit singles at tonight’s event as teased on Tokopedia’s social media pages. This will be both groups’ second appearance at the event, as BTS were previously featured back in July while BLACKPINK performed in November of last year.

The show will be hosted by actor Gading Marten and presenter Chika Jessica, featuring local entertainers such as singer Tiara Andini, rappers Iwa K and Saykoji, Javanese pop/dangdut singer Denny Caknan, and comedian-presenter Reza Chandika, among others. South Korean presenter Park Kyung-rim and YouTuber Jang Han-sol, the latter of whom grew up in Malang and known for his fluent Indonesian and Javanese, will also appear on the show.

You can enjoy various perks during the show, such as discounts, cashbacks, and free shipping on purchases made via Tokopedia.

While Tokopedia is not the only e-commerce giant that features popular K-pop acts for its shopping events to attract the fans to shop at their sites, numerous notable groups have performed on their events, including girl groups TWICE, ITZY, and Secret Number (popular in the country due to its Indonesian member Dita); rookie boy band Treasure; and the subunits of 23-membered boy band NCT (Neo Culture Technology), Seoul-based NCT 127 and the rotational NCT U.

In October, BLACKPINK released their first full-length album, The Album, featuring hit singles How You Like That and Lovesick Girls. The Album also featured collaborations with US singer-actress Selena Gomez in Ice Cream and rapper Cardi B in Bet You Wanna. The quartet — consisting of leader Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, and Lisa — will be performing on their first exclusive online concert, titled BLACKPINK: The Show, streaming exclusively on the group’s YouTube channel on Jan. 31.

BTS has scored numerous achievements throughout 2020, including making history as the first K-pop artists to be nominated in a major category at the Grammy Awards. Dynamite, the group’s Billboard No. 1 hit and first English-language single, is nominated for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category in next year’s award, which has been postponed to mid-March. The septet released their fifth Korean-language, or ninth overall, album titled BE in November, featuring lead single Life Goes On. The album, which came out only nine months after Map of the Soul: 7, was described as “a letter of hope” amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
