Dragon Blade
Jackie Chan returns in Dragon Blade, the latest Chinese blockbuster also starring seasoned Hollywood veterans John Cusack and Adrien Brody. Chan plays Huo An, a Chinese commander who teams up with a fleeing Roman general Lucius (Cusack) to fight off an army of 100,000 Roman soldiers led by Tiberius (Brody) in China.
Should you watch it? Dragon Blade proved to be a massive hit in China, topping the Chinese box office during the Lunar New Year Holiday with $58.4 million. But it isn’t so much a hit with critics. Geek Culture calls it a “ painfully average film masked by its grandstanding and high budget set pieces.” So, unless you’re a huge Jackie Chan fan, you might want to give Dragon Blade a pass.
Shaun the Sheep Movie
Everybody’s favorite British clay-animated sheep Shaun decides to take a day off from work in the farm. Through a series of mishaps, Shaun and the flock of sheep end up in a mess that leads them to a grand adventure in the Big City to try and bring home their beloved Farmer.
Should you watch it? Absolutely, even if only for the hilarious and unexpected Silence of the Lambs reference in a family movie (01:33 in the trailer above). In any case, Shaun the Sheep Movie is a lighthearted and charming family comedy that is sure to delight adults and the little ones alike. Loved by critics, the movie scored a healthy 77 out of 100 on Metacritic.
