Dicky Muhammad Prasetya, a member of popular Indonesian boy band SMASH, was allegedly a victim of assault and homophobia as he was leaving Blowfish nightclub in South Jakarta on Saturday.

Mampang Prapatan Police precinct received a report from Dicky and his friend, who claimed that they were attacked by a group of strangers who directed homophobic slurs at him.

“As they were leaving to go home at around 3am, the victim (Dicky) and his friend Senly came across a group of strangers at the lobby of the Wisma Mulia building. Those people insulted the victim by saying, ‘Oooh, you’re a homo,’” said Mampang Prapatan Police Chief Moch Safi’i, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.

Safi’i said that Senly was upset and confronted the group in defense of Dicky. Following a verbal argument, a woman in the group began physically attacking both Dicky and Senly.

“The two victims have cuts on their faces and bodies,” Safi’i said.

The police are still investigating Dicky and Senly’s claims. At the same time, the alleged perpetrators also reported the incident to the police, though it’s not yet known what their complaint is.

Dicky’s manager, Yudi, painted a more detailed account of the alleged assault on Saturday. According to him, Dicky and Senly were beaten by four people.

“Soon after the verbal argument, (Dicky’s) female friend (Senly) dropped to the floor after being kicked by a man from behind. Dicky was also kicked to the floor, and they were kicked again when they were down,” Yudi said, as quoted by Kumparan.

“When we left we saw that there was blood on (Dicky’s) lips, and he had dislocated his right shoulder. Whereas Senly had a swollen eye, and she said yesterday that her body hurt after being kicked.”
