See the best of Indonesian fashion in the virtual edition of Jakarta Fashion Week 2022

The most anticipated fashion event of the year, the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), kicks off today with the entirety of the event taking place online until Sunday, Nov. 28. Just like last year’s edition of the event, JFW 2022 is held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be at least 75 Indonesian designers and fashion labels that will showcase their pieces in 16 shows, with all of them sharing the common theme of sustainability. 

Sustainability has become one of the hottest trends in the fashion industry, as it encourages everyone involved ⁠— from designers to consumers ⁠— to be more responsible from the production to purchasing stages to avoid further harm to the environment. 

All events under JFW will be broadcast live on jfw.tv, and you can just scroll down on the site to see the schedule and click on any show or fashion talks you want to watch. As the events are live streamed via YouTube, you can also set a reminder so you won’t miss the events.

The opening show this evening will be a preview of the designers’ collections, modeled by the JFW 2022 icons and the grand finalists of this year’s JFW Model Search. Throughout the festivities, you can take a first look at new collections by a number of new and familiar local fashion designers and brands such as Jeffry Tan, SOE Jakarta, Sejauh Mata Memandang, Danjyo Hiyoji, I.K.Y.K, Vish by Nevertoolavish, and Calla The Label, among others.

Students of LaSalle College Jakarta and Islamic Fashion Institute will take part in JFW 2022, during which they will present their latest collection. You can take part in the Fashion Conversation held in conjunction with cultural centers such as Institut Français Indonesia, Erasmus Huis, and the British Council.

The last day of JFW 2022 will see a show featuring three finalists from the Fashion Force Awards 2021, namely experimental fashion label Masou Atelier, footwear brand MKS, and leather bag brand S.RW. As in JFW tradition, Dewi Fashion Knights will be the penultimate show, featuring experimental bag brand BYO, fashion label Major Minor, and jewelry brand Tulola Designs.
