Are you ready to run for fun and glory in the capital city of Indonesia? If so, don’t miss the chance to join the BTN Jakarta Run 2023, an international running event that is being held as part of Jakarta’s 496th anniversary celebrations.

As announced in a press conference over the weekend, the BTN Jakarta Run 2023 is a collaboration between PT Bank Tabungan Negara and the Jakarta Provincial Government, aiming to promote sports, tourism and economic development in the city.

The event will take place on Nov. 12 around the iconic National Monument (Monas) area.

There are four categories to choose from: Marathon (42K), Half Marathon (21K), 10K and 5K. The event is open to runners of all ages and abilities, from beginners to professionals.

Registration will open on June 29.

Pro and seasoned runners may set their sights on the IDR1.5 billion (US$166,411) prize pool, which includes a grand prize of a house for the runner who breaks the Indonesian marathon record (this prize applies to Indonesian nationals only).

Since he set the Indonesian record in 1993, no runner has been able to beat the late Eduardus Nabunome’s marathon time of two hours, 19 minutes, and 18 seconds. Some have come quite close.

The BTN Jakarta Run 2023 is expected to attract 15,000 runners from Indonesia and abroad, potentially making it one of the largest sports events in the capital this year.
