Duo Serigala dangdut singer Pamela Safitri and her representatives went to the Jakarta Police yesterday to report the spread of her nude selfies on her Instagram account by a suspected hacker last week.

Pamela said she was extremely shocked and that she cried all day on Friday when three of her very private photos were somehow uploaded on her Instagram account.

“I was shocked when I woke up at 6am, opened Instagram and the photos were there. I think [they were uploaded by] someone close to me. I don’t want to guess, let the police [handle the case],” Pamela said at Jakarta Police Headquarters yesterday afternoon, as quoted by Kompas.

Pamela said her Instagram account, as well as her other social media accounts, were inaccessible after the photos were uploaded.

As for the nude selfies, Pamela herself admitted their authenticity.

“Those were old photos, I didn’t even keep them anymore. I don’t know how they still exist,” she said.

If there’s a lesson from to be learned from Pamela’s misfortune it’s that, in today’s digital age, nothing from the past, especially things like nude selfies, are ever totally erased. The only way to make sure they aren’t spread is to not make them in the first place (or use Snapchat).
