Police say back-to-back concerts by K-pop boyband NCT 127 is to go ahead as scheduled today and tomorrow following reports of a bomb threat at the venue.
A message containing a bomb threat reportedly circulated online today, allegedly targeting Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) on the outskirts of Jakarta in BSD City. NCT 127 is set to perform at the venue, which regularly hosts major international concerts, at 7pm today and 2pm on Saturday.
Police have deployed a bomb squad and its K9 unit to ICE, and found no evidence of explosives at the venue. Authorities are appealing for calm and cleared the shows to go ahead.
“Up to this point, there will be no postponement [of the concert],” Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Endra Zulpan said today.
Endra added that police have identified and are in pursuit of an individual who posted the bomb threat online.
Up to 8,000 people are expected to attend each show, police were informed.
NCT 127, a subunit of the 23-member boyband NCT, touched down in Jakarta on Thursday evening. There have been no statements from promoters about postponing or canceling the band’s Jakarta shows.
