Singer/songwriter Rinto Harahap passed away on Monday in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. He was 69 years old.
Rinto was being treated at the hospital for cancer.
“We heard he had spine cancer,” said Yos Q, Rinto’s close friend, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.
Yos Q said Rinto had been bedridden for a while because of the cancer.
“Since around October 2014, he couldn’t get up, until it was decided that he’d get treatment in Singapore,” he said.
Aside from writing songs and making the careers for countless musicians in Indonesia, Rinto was well known for being part of the band The Mercy’s in the ‘70s.
