It’s been a good year for Indonesian beauties in the crazy competitive world of international beauty pageants. In October, Ariska Putri Pertiwi took first place in the Miss Grand International in Las Vegas and another Miss Indonesia, Natasha Mannuela Halim, placed 3rd in the highly prestigious Miss World competition which took place yesterday in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Natasha (or Acha, as her friends call her), is a 22-year-old student who is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Prasetiya Mulya Business School. She earned her spot at Miss World by winning Miss Indonesia 2016 as the representative of Bangka Belitung in February.
In addition to her 3rd place finish, Natasha also earned the “Beauty With a Purpose” award for her work in Bantar Gebang, Bekasi, helping locals fishermen there develop catfish ponds and teaching them the business skills to monetize them.
Natasha follows in the footsteps of Miss Indonesia 2015 Maria Harfanti, who also earned the “Beauty with a Purpose” award and placed 3rd at Miss World 2015. The winner of Miss World 2016 was Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico.
