Jakarta-based dangdut super group 3 Kucing (Three Cats) is more popular than legendary rock band Metallica, at least in terms of concert attendance in Indonesia.
3 Kucing’s manager, Eko Al Suwari, said 50,000 fans attended the group’s concert in Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra on October 18, 2014.
Rock acts Metallica and Linkin Park, while hugely popular in Indonesia, only managed attendances of around 30,000.
“Our concert was the most crowded, according to local media. We’ve broken the record for the biggest concert attendance [in Indonesia]. The venue was full and people spilled out into streets left, right, and center,” said Eko.
“We’re grateful because it turned out we have a large following around the country. This is motivation for us to be even better all the time,” he continued.
