Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair, husband of Indonesian actress-singer Bunga Citra Lestari (BCL), passed away this morning. He was 40 years old.
According to BCL’s manager, Ashraf died from a heart attack. He reportedly passed away at 4:51am today following a cardiac arrest at the Metropolitan Medical Center in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
Ashraf, full name Ashraf Daniel Mohammed Sinclair, was born in London on Sept. 18, 1979 to a British father and Malay mother. He started his showbiz career as an actor in Malaysia, with a notable role in popular film Gol & Gincu (Goalpost and Lipstick) in 2005 as well as its spin-off TV series.
He married BCL in 2008, and starred in a romcom film together titled Saus Kacang (Peanut Sauce) in the same year. Their son, Noah Sinclair, was born in 2010.
Ashraf has been based in Jakarta ever since, starring in dozens of sinetron (soap operas). Other than showbiz, Ashraf was a partner at a US-based venture capital named 500 Startups and a co-founder of a crossfit club called Crossfit Equator.
