We know you’ve been longing to go out and get some fresh air after being mostly at home for almost five months. While none of us should be confident that COVID-19 is under control in Indonesia at this point, there’s nothing wrong with making a list of places we should visit once it’s much safer, and we think the newly opened Kumulo Creative Compound in BSD, South Tangerang, ought to be on your radar.

Located at outdoor lifestyle center The Breeze, Kumulo was initially scheduled to open back in April, but had to postpone until earlier this month due to the pandemic. There are at least 25 grey-colored micro-shop buildings with different shapes and sizes in the compound, which are surrounded by trees. A variety of local businesses are calling the spaces at Kumulo their new home, selling a range of refreshments and homewares, as well as stuff that even your dogs would love.

Visit Kultivar Lokal’s shop if you want to adopt new plants for your home, or head to Adinegara Ceramics to get handmade ceramic goods for you or your loved ones. If you’re on the lookout for local natural skincare brands, GoodVibes Botanical should be your destination. Fredhelligh sells “curated local treasures,” and it’s where you can find rustic-looking brooms, wooden homewares, and ceramic orange squeezers, among others. Kumulo also has its own spot called Kumulo Concept Store where you can find trinkets, souvenirs, and even children’s books.

There’s Treat Nails Spa and Retail Store if you want to indulge yourself in fresh nail art. After all the sightseeing and shopping, head over to Kopi Selamat Pagi for a much-needed caffeine boost or popular desserts parlor Manatea Softserve for an array of tea-inspired ice creams or milky drinks.

Don’t forget to buy some treats for your dog at Kin Dog Goods before you head home. And yes, Kumulo is a dog-friendly place, so you can take your four-legged friends for a morning or afternoon stroll at the location, too.

For those of you intent on visiting sooner rather than later, Kumulo is imposing COVID-19 health protocols for all visitors, which include temperature check at the entrance, obligatory face masks, and maintaining physical distance between visitors. Children below five and seniors above 65 are not allowed to enter Kumulo if it’s packed with visitors, though it’s wise not to take them anywhere public altogether for the time being.

As the place reportedly has become a hot spot among local residents, Kumulo is limiting the number of visitors each day. You have to register by scanning a QR code at the entrance or by filling this form if you’re an Android user.

Kumulo is currently on a trial opening from 10am to 6pm every day, though they are closed for maintenance until this Friday and will open again on Saturday, Aug 1.
