Joko Anwar’s new film, ‘A Copy of My Mind’ is the only Southeast Asian film to be selected for the 2015 Venice Film Festival

Renowned Indonesian film director Joko Anwar is showing no signs of slowing down. His latest full-length feature, ‘A Copy of My Mind’, was officially selected for the prestigious Venice Film Festival.

‘A Copy of My Mind’, which stars Chiccho Jerikho and Tara Basro, is the only Southeast Asian film to have been selected for the 72nd edition of the film festival this year.

The news was confirmed on Joko’s Twitter account on July 29.

In an interview in December 2014, Joko said ‘A Copy of My Mind’ was his first attempt at a drama flick.

“I just finished the film ‘A Copy of My Mind’. This is my first drama,” he told Metro TV.

“The preparation took eight months. The shoot was brief, only eight days. But we deliberately made it brief because we didn’t want to film in sets. It [was filmed in] real locations, involving real people.”

The film’s script actually won Korea’s CJ Entertainment Award back in October 8, 2014, and with it a $10 thousand grant for the film’s production and development.

We hope the film fares well in Venice. We sure can’t wait to see it in cinemas here.
