After a year of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Java Jazz Festival (JJF) returns for its 17th edition this Friday to Saturday.

JJF, which is one of the most prominent jazz festivals in the region, will be held at its usual venue, JIExpo Kemayoran, North Jakarta. The festival has recently announced their final lineup, consisting of local and international artists encompassing various genres, which include jazz, R&B, and pop.

There are familiar local names including the likes of Adhitia Sofyan, Afgan, Andien, Kahitna, Maliq & d’Essentials, Marcel, Nadin Amizah, and Reza Artamevia. There will also be special collaboration stages such as Ahmad Dhani feat. Ron King Big Band; Candra Darusman feat. Dira, Sandhy Sondoro, Rifan Kalbuadi, and Natasya Elvira; and Fariz RM feat. Oslo Ibrahim and Faye Risakotta, to name a few.

Numerous international artists will also be performing their sets, such as Alex Porat, Gabe Bondoc, Jakob Ogawa, Ron King Big Band, and Scherrie and Susaye (formerly of The Supremes).

Headlining the festival in 2022 are American artists R&B/pop singer JoJo, who started her career as a teen popstar; singer-songwriter PJ Morton, one of Maroon 5’s keyboardists who has embarked on a solo career; and The Temptations Rev feat. Glenn Leonard, a tribute to the original legendary five-membered vocal group, The Temptations, led by a former member of the group Glenn Leonard.

The daily schedule is available here

This year’s theme is “rising through a music event,” which fits the spirit of starting the wheels rolling again with music in the post-pandemic era.

Tickets are available on Java Jazz Festival’s official website or Blibli, with daily passes priced at IDR850,000. Special tickets are available for IDR100,000 for JoJo’s performance on Friday, IDR450,000 for PJ Morton’s show on Saturday, and IDR150,000 for The Temptations’ set on Sunday. All prices are before tax.

As per usual, festival goers must purchase a daily pass to watch the special show of the same day. To be able to enter the venue, you have to show proof of complete primary doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on your PeduliLindungi account, and you are required to mask up at all times at the venue. Foreign citizens who wish to go to the festival are required to undergo a vaccine verification process here and download the PeduliLindungi app afterwards.
