Uniqlo: going South. Photo: fastcompany.com
Southerners need not travel all the way up to Lotte Shopping Avenue or Grand Indonesia to buy hip fashion apparel from Uniqlo anymore. The Japanese retailer is opening up new chains in Gandaria City and AEON Mall BSD City.
In April, Uniqlo will open its new store on the upper ground floor in Gandaria City in South Jakarta. Two months later, they are expected to open another store on the first floor of the AEON Mall in BSD City.
“The opening of our first store in South Jakarta as well as another store outside of Jakarta will bring us closer to our customers. The two new stores will offer the same quality and variety of products as expected by customers [from Uniqlo],” said Yasuhiro Hayashi, President Director and COO of PT Fast Retailing Indonesia, Uniqlo’s license owners in Indonesia, as quoted by Detik today.
The two new Uniqlo stores will be the retailer’s seventh and eighth in Indonesia, with all of the stores located in Jakarta and its surrounding cities. The other six stores are available in Lotte Shopping Avenue, Mal Kelapa Gading, Mal Taman Anggrek, Summarecon Mall Serpong, Summarecon Mall Bekasi, and Grand Indonesia.
