Indonesia’s answer to twerking: Goyang Dribble

Miley Cyrus has got nothing on the two members of Duo Serigala (Two Wolves), Safitri Pamela and Ovi Sovianti, who might just be the hottest dangdut performers in Indonesia at the moment . The above video, which was released in mid-December, exploded in popularity after being posted to 9Gag and has already amassed nearly 2 million views.

Their signature chest-popping dance moves, which have been dubbed “goyang dribble” (shaking dribble) have quickly made the dangdut duo incredibly popular, and incredibly controversial, with some Indonesians.

Despite their willingness to fully exploit their assets, Duo Serigala has been welcomed by certain segments of Indonesia’s Islamic media, as shown by their appearance on the show “Islam Itu Indah” (The Beauty of Islam) earlier this month (although they wore hijabs and did not engage in any goyang dribble during the program).

Duo Serigala may be controversial at the moment, but they are simply the latest in a long line of Indonesian dangdut performers who have tried to outdo their peers with increasingly risque dance moves. Who can forget Inul Daratista’s famous take on goyang ngebor (the drill shake)?

Duo Serigala are working for Pelangi Records, a record company known for working with such classy dangdut performers as Roro Fitria, the 27-year-old who spends Rp 290 million ($22.6k) on beauty care products per month.
