It truly is satisfying to see some sense literally kicked into somebody who thinks “sexy clothing” is an invitation for sexual harassment.
That is what Indonesian singer/DJ Gebby Vesta did to a grabby patron at a club where she performed recently. Gebby was singing on stage, while wearing revealing attire as part of her act, when the unidentified creep shamelessly grabbed at her crotch before trying to reach for it again, as shown in this video that the singer shared on her Instagram:
Laughing while he was dragged away, the man clearly showed no remorse after Gebby kicked him square in the face. “I kicked his face and still my heart is not satisfied!!” Gebby wrote in the caption to the post above.
While some cheered Gebby’s fighting back against clear cut sexual harassment, many who commented on the post sadly blamed her choice of clothing as justifying the man’s sleazy assault.
“If I were the guy I’d do the same thing. She’s offering herself, so it’s understandable that I’d go for it,” one commenter wrote. “This is like a cat being offered a fish,” wrote another.
Gebby largely ignored the victim blaming in a subsequent post, instead criticizing the club’s management for failing to provide adequate security and preventing the man from grabbing her.
“I am contractually obligated to appear sexy … but the STUPID security guards, when they knew that there was an irritating incident experienced by the artist, they allowed the DRUNK THUG (to grab me) by giving him room to have fun,” she wrote.
Gebby then wrote that she thought about suing the establishment before they apologized to her for the incident. She decided to keep the video on her Instagram account as an example and to urge other establishments to protect artists from sexual harassment while they’re working.
