We thought our opinion of Jakartan socialite Margaret Vivi couldn’t be any lower after she said losing Rp 450 million wasn’t a problem for her. We were wrong.
Vivi, who’s suing Devita Friska over a Rp 950 million Hermes handbag sale that went awry, managed to be seem even more despicable during a recent interview with the media, during which she seemed desperate to flaunt her wealth by saying cheap handbags were beneath her.
“If [A handbag] is Rp 500,000, then that to me is like a plastic bag,” she said, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
Vivi boasted that, to her, a “cheap” handbag should cost around Rp 500 million.
Perhaps Vivi would feel more comfortable living Monaco or someplace far away from all the poor Indonesian people who barely make a fraction of that amount after a year of hard work.
We hate to wish bad things upon anyone, but we hope Vivi loses this case. But then again, she’d only feel a slight pinch from losing Rp 450 million.
