‘Garuda Superhero’ to premiere at the Indonesia-Thailand alliance anniversary, pushing back Indonesian release date (Trailer)

Moviegoers eager to watch the first Indonesian superhero movie in a generation will have to wait a little bit longer to watch it in Indonesia. Garuda Superhero will premiere at the 65th anniversary of the Indonesia-Thailand alliance in Bangkok on November 28, meaning the Indonesian release of the film will be pushed back.

“After we released the trailer and teaser, we were in a really good position. But then we were asked to play Garuda Superhero at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok on November 28. This is a great honor,” said the film’s Executive Producer, Dhoni Ramadhan, on Wednesday.

This means the Bangkok viewing will be the Asian premiere of the film.

The film was scheduled for an end of the year release in Indonesia, but will now have to be pushed back.

“I received advice from friends to maximize [the marketing of the film] after November 28. The newest development is we’ll release in Indonesia on January 8, 2015,” Dhoni said.

The film also received an offer to be screened in Manhattan, New York.

“After the trailer was shown at the Balinale [Bali International Film Festival 2014], organizers invited us to play the film for a community of film students in Manhattan,” Dhoni said.

“Who knows, maybe we can go to Hollywood from there.”

After watching the trailer below, we doubt very much the Batman rip-off would be well-received in Hollywood.
