Duo Serigala’s Pamela Safitri causes yet another uproar by posing with “Bismillah” over her cleavage in Instagram video

Ever since Duo Serigala momentarily shot to global recognition for their “goyang dribble” dance, we really haven’t heard much from the dangdut duo other than one member of the group, Pamela Safitri, being involved in one scandal after another.

After her previous nude selfie scandal, Pamela has caused yet another social media uproar with her latest cleavage-related controversy:

bismilah Acara pesta rakyat lubuklinggau “muratara rupit”

A video posted by Pamelasafitriduoserigala (@pamelasafitriduoserigala) on

The short video was supposedly taken right before Duo Serigala went on stage in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra. Pamela, who stood in front of the other Serigala, Ovi Sovianti, said in the video, “Hi, we’re about to do a show at Muratara Rupit [in Lubuklinggau], pray for us that it all goes well.”

If you don’t see anything wrong with the video, well, you’re probably not Muslim. The word “Bismillah” (which translates to “In the name of Allah”) being graphically imposed right on top of Pamela’s cleavage for the duration of the video would be perceived as extremely blasphemous to many followers of Islam.

The video recently became the target of outrage by netizens (despite the video first being published over a month ago) and the scandal is attracting national media attention, like this Tribunnews article.

The comments section on the video is now filled with scathing criticism (some really hateful) like this:

I don’t accept that the word “bismillah” was written in front of your bouncy droopy boobs @pamelasafitriduoserigala @ovi_sovianti!!! SLUT!!!!

If you make money using means like that, that makes you a prostitute.

My goodness mbak @pamelafitriduoserigala… If God punishes you with breast cancer then you’ll know how it feels… why put the word bismillah on your chest… have you lost your mind?

Surprisingly we haven’t heard of any Islamic groups, such as hardliners Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) condemning the dangdut star (they were the very same group that prevented Lady Gaga from performing in Indonesia because they said she would destroy the country’s moral values).

Pamela has not yet made a statement regarding the video. While it’s possible she did not mean to do something incredibly controversial, there’s also the possibility that it was a calculated move to stay in the media spotlight until she comes up with another suggestive dance move (and if that was her plan, obviously it was a successful one). What do you think?
