Have you ever wanted to show your religious piety while cosplaying like a superhero? Well, thanks to trend-cognizant fashion producers in Indonesia, that is now a possibility.

If you’ve already watched ‘Black Panther’, Marvel Studios’ latest offering, or even just watched the trailer, you might have noticed that the titular character’s alter ego, King T’Challa of Wakanda, wears a couple of traditional-looking shirts that very closely resembles what many Muslim men in Indonesia wear when they go to the mosque or during the Lebaran holiday — the koko shirt.

(T’Challa can be seen wearing a black koko-esque shirt at 0:47 and a white one at 1:12 in the trailer below)

And now, a week after the film’s release in Indonesia, numerous religious fashion sellers have capitalized on its popularity by releasing a line of black koko shirts to look almost exactly like the one T’Challa wore in the movie. For around IDR300K (US$22), the black shirt can be ordered from e-commerce websites like Tokopedia.

In the product listing above, photos of the shirt show that it’s pretty much a carbon copy of T’Challa’s shirt from the front. However, unlike T’Challa’s, the back of the shirt is embroidered with a small Black Panther logo just below the neck.

We have not yet seen a replica of T’Challa’s white koko-esque shirt, but we’re sure it’ll be available online soon.

IDR300K for a koko shirt is indeed quite steep, as regular shirts often go for around IDR100K or even less, with anything above that considered premium quality products.

Now, if only Indonesia’s fashion knock-off specialists could find a way to replicate that awesome vibranium panther costume…

Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther and Michael B. Jordan as villain Erik Killmonger, is currently playing in cinemas in Indonesia.
