Model and actress Nikita Mirzani controversially wore sunglasses, a see-through low cut white shirt, and ripped blue jeans to her divorce hearing at the South Jakarta Religious Court on Monday. Surprisingly, she wasn’t given any sort of warning by the judges at her hearing.
“The head judge should have warned [Nikita] and postponed the hearing so she can be more respectful and dress more appropriately,” said Ridwan Mansyur, Head of the Justice and Public Relations Bureau at the Supreme Court, as quoted by Detik today.
Anggara Suwahju of the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) accused the judges at the South Jakarta Religious Court of double standards.
“I was once warned by the South Jakarta Religious Court judges for wearing batik,” Anggara said, as quoted by Detik today.
Anggara said the judges thought batik was inappropriate for lawyers at the court.
“They said I didn’t look like an advocate,” he said.
Anggara said Nikita’s outfit should have been more inappropriate than his batik outfit.
“How is that [Nikita’s outfit] allowed? It was never allowed,” he said.
It’s all the more ironic given that Nikita managed to get away with her ‘disrespectful’ outfit at a Religious Court.
