Loewy’s 10th Anniversary Party featuring Martin Jensen (Friday)
Loewy, once among the first in a wave of bar/restaurants in Jakarta to take cocktails seriously, has managed to survive an increasingly crowded market to remain one of the Indonesian capital’s most perennially popular nightlife spots after ten years (an eternity in terms of Jakarta’s fickle F&B scene). To celebrate their big 10th anniversary, Loewy is flying in Danish electronic producer Martin Jensen, ranked #54 in DJ Mag’s last Top 100 DJ list, who specializes in energetic house with touches of everything from big-bass festival EDM to lanky tropical beats. Interplay at RUCI Art Gallery Space
In his first solo exhibition, artist Abenk Alter, challenges the limitation of common ideals and external validation, going deeper to explore the drives and the impulses between dualities such as public persona and private self, style and character, external and internal, real and apparent. Exhibiting his awareness of the social structures and expectations that shape his external identities, he responds by letting loose through automatism in his drawings. An artist and musician, this multi media exhibit will also feature his paintings, drawings and installations. Opening reception on Friday at 7pm. Exhibition goes until January 27, 2019. For more info
