The purpose of the House of Representatives of Indonesia (DPR) is – on paper, at least – to serve the people of Indonesia by drawing up and passing legislations, overseeing the government, and other important duties. But obviously they sometimes allow themselves to get distracted by various things, the latest of which may be a juicy celebrity scandal that involves dangdut diva Cita Citata and one of their members, Amrullah Amri Tuasikal.
Cita Citata, who shot to dangdut stardom thanks to her mega hit ‘Sakitnya Tuh Disini’, plans to report Amrullah to the DPR’s Ethics Council today, alleging that the DPR member gave her many false promises when they were dating.
One particular incident that Cita Citata has played up for the media is that Amrullah told her that he would pay for the Rp 450 million engagement ring the couple had settled on, only for the store to contact her some time later asking her to pay for the ring as Amrullah hadn’t come through on his promise.
“So many promises. I actually don’t want him to buy me this and that. But he promised to buy me a house, a car, and other things,” Cita Citata said, as quoted by Okezone yesterday.
“The purpose of my reporting [Amrullah] to the Ethics Council is no longer about material loss, but to seek moral responsibility [from Amrullah]. That’s all I want, for him to be held morally responsible as a representative of the people.”
Other than the false promises, Cita Citata said Amrullah also borrowed money from her on several occasions and suspects that he is seeing other girls as well.
Amrullah has not spoken publicly about the matter.
The DPR’s Ethics Council has not yet stated whether or not they would take this case seriously as Cita Citata hasn’t filed an official complaint yet. Do you think the DPR should take this seriously to make Amrullah into an example to other DPR members? Or should they perhaps focus on more important issues, like the good of the country as a whole?
