Dangdut singer Saipul Jamil was released yesterday after serving his sentence for child molestation and bribery, and he’s not short on offers to return to the entertainment scene.

The 41-year-old star saw his 8-year sentence reduced by 30 months, and he was declared a free man after serving five years and eight months at Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta.

The convicted child molester couldn’t hide his delight following his release.

“I’m going to bathe in the sea, but which sea we’ll have to see, because all this time I’ve been bathing using water in prison,” Saipul told reporters yesterday.

The heinous nature of his criminal history be damned, reports have emerged that Saipul was offered numerous TV and YouTube gigs immediately following his release, prompting strong pushback from the public.

One petition on Change.org, which has been signed by more than 13,000 people as of this article’s publication time, calls for TV networks to boycott Saipul for the sake of his victim, who may still be traumatized by the celeb.

Saipul was found guilty of molesting a 17-year-old boy in 2016, for which he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. His sentence was raised to 5 years upon appeal, and another 3 years was added on when he was found guilty of bribing a judge in his child molestation case at the district court level.
