2016 is already proving to be a great year for alternative music concerts in Jakarta. After Tame Impala (and possibly Morrissey), Jakarta is going to be graced by the performance of French electronic band M83.
The news was confirmed by the concert’s promoter, kiosPLAY, in this tweet today, which includes a poster featuring frontman Anthony Gonzalez and details of the Jakarta concert:
The show was also confirmed on M83’s official website www.ilovem83.com. It says that M83’s Jakarta show will be the first on the Asian leg of their world tour, the other two being Seoul and Tokyo (meaning Jakarta is the only confirmed Southeast Asian show to date!).
M83 formed in 2001 as a duo, but have now evolved into a four-piece. Their sixth and latest studio album, ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’, was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards and was ranked 22nd in Pitchfork’s Top 100 Albums of the Decade list.
Details about the Jakarta show are still limited to the ones conveyed in the poster above, but in case you can’t see the embedded tweet above, we’ve got you covered:
