Famed English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran broke a lot of hearts in Indonesia when he cancelled his highly anticipated concert in Jakarta that had been scheduled for November 9, citing medical complications. Fortunately for his fans here, he is keeping his promise to come back to the capital in the near future, with his concert here now officially rescheduled for May of next year.

Promoter PK Entertainment confirmed yesterday that Ed Sheeran’s “Divide World Tour” will bring The Shape of You singer to Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on May 3.

Before coming to Jakarta, the Asia leg of the Grammy Award-winning singer’s tour will take him to Tokyo, Seoul, Osaka, Singapore and Bangkok (he had to cancel his previous concert date in Seoul as well).

PK Entertainment said that there were 45,000 tickets available for Sheeran’s May concert, with prices ranging from IDR550,000++ (US$38) to IDR2.6 million++. Tickets will go on sale December 5 through the concert’s official website, www.edsheeranjakarta.com and also through Tokopedia.

Many Sheeran fans had lined up for hours to grab tickets to his November gig, which sold out in less than 24 hours, and were devastated when he cancelled due to medical complications from a bicycle accident he had in London.

Sheeran took to Facebook to post a video apologizing for the cancellations and delays and promised that he would try to play in the cities he couldn’t make it to this year as soon as possible. Considering his busy schedule, we’d say the May date for his rescheduled concert is good enough to consider that promise fulfilled.
