British pop band The Vamps coming to Jakarta in January

They may not like being referred to as a boy band, but there’s no doubt that much of The Vamps enthusiastic fan base crosses over with that of another British boy group, One Direction. And just as One Direction’s recent concert in Jakarta drew huge crowds of screaming young girls, we expect The Vamps show on Jan. 25 at The Kasablanka in Kota Kasablanka mall will draw similar hormonal mobs.

The Vamps do have some justification for not wanting the boy band title – unlike most boy bands, they were not manufactured by a record company but formed by a group of friends who first gained fame through the viral Youtube music videos they made in 2012. And they also actually play their own instruments.

After getting signed by a record label, the Vamps debut single “Can We Dance”, debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart. The group has since launched a successful album and their own record label. They are set to launch their second album “Wake Up” later this month and their concert in Jakarta early next year is part of a global push for the new album.

Jakarta concert tickets will be available online starting Saturday, November 7.
