After starring in legendary Indonesian action film “The Raid”, Joe Taslim has gone on to star in numerous Hollywood flicks including “Fast and Furious 6”. Very soon, you’ll be able to see him on the big screen in “Star Trek Beyond”, albeit under layers upon layers of prosthetic make up.
During the gala Indonesian premiere and press conference for the film at the XXI Epicentrum theater in Jakarta yesterday, Taslim revealed that he plays Manas, an alien antagonist to the Enterprise crew, in the third installment of the rebooted franchise.
Taslim also posted a photo of himself as Manas on his Instagram:
In the press conference, Taslim spoke of the painstaking work that was put in into his prosthetic make-up.
“I was even picked up at 2am and sat in the make up room for 4 to 5 hours every day, just like Idris Elba, who I sat beside,” Taslim said, as quoted by Warta Kota.
Elba plays the primary villain Krall in “Beyond”, with whom Taslim’s Manas takes on Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk and his crew of space explorers.
“Star Trek Beyond” opens in Indonesia on July 20.
