Throw a pie in a famous person’s face to support a fantastic charity (Sunday morning)
https://www.facebook.com/komunitastaufan.org/posts/747084708811808
Founded by Yeni Mulyaningsih Dewi after tragically losing her 7-year-old son, Taufan, to leukemia, Komunitas Taufan offers moral and financial support to other underprivileged families that find themselves in similar situations (it’s also one of our favorite volunteer organizations in Jakarta).
The Pies In The Face Charity is an annual event to raise funds for Komunitas Taufan by, as you might have guessed, letting participants pay for the opportunity to throw a pie in somebody’s face.
This year the event is taking on Sunday, July 30 at fX Sudirman from 8am to 11am. For a donation of Rp 50,000 you can throw a pie, from three steps away, at one of the volunteer targets, including travel writer Trinity, singer Ricky Karnadi, the members of pop music group HIVI! and folks from lots of other remarkable volunteer organizations that are also participating in the event.
(FYI you don’t have to worry about food wastage as the pies are just made of fluffy whipped cream and there are volunteers tasked with going up after each pie is thrown to collect whipped cream for recycling and reuse.)
If you’re not so sure about your aim or just want to give more, you can also smack the volunteers in the face with your pie directly for Rp 100,000. For more information, email info@komunitastaufan.org or check out the Komunitas Taufan FB page.

They’ll be performing at Institut Français d’Indonésie this Saturday at 7:30pm alongside Laura Kidd and Danielle Carragher (DANI), two talented musicians who are collaborating with KunoKini through a British Council Indonesia program.
