Taste the best that Indonesia has to offer at Potato Head’s GI Market Place (Sat-Sun)
Geographical indication (GI) may not sound like the most tantalizing culinary term, but it matters to a lot of foodies. GI is a sign used to indicate that an ingredient or products that come from a certain geographical region famous for it – for example only sparkling white wine that comes from Champagne, France, can legally be called champagne due to GI.
Indonesia also has a lot of foods that famously come from certain regions, and this weekend’s GI Market Place at Potato Head in Pacific Place Mall is a place where you can check out, buy and taste a basketful of them, including Krayan Rice from East, Arabika Gayo Coffee, Mede Flores Cashews, Amed Bali Salt as well as many more. Potato Head’s Executive Chef Haruhisa Noguchi has also created a special GI Menu highlighting some of those ingredients. The GI Special Menu is available from May 9-22.

Dance the night away at Goods Diner with DJ Kent [Japan] and Jack J [Vancouver] (Friday night)
We’re huge fans of Ashram Projects, who have been bringing lots of amazing international DJs to Jakarta that play music far removed from the usual house music and hip-hop played at the clubs here. Tonight they’ve got DJ Kent from Japan and Jack J from Vancouver for what’s sure to be an awesomely eclectic night at Goods Diner in SCBD (which is 100% inside so you don’t have to worry about waking anybody at Sudirman Mansion up).
