Get a selfie with ‘polisi ganteng’ at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Expo
Public opinion about the police in Jakarta was perhaps never so high as in the wake of January’s tragic terrorist attack in Thamrin, when photos of officers fighting the militants viral and the term ‘polisis ganteng’ (‘handsome police’) became a trending topic online. Perhaps hoping to build on that positive perception, the capital’s police have organized their first public expo this weekend at Gandaria City. The event promises to show people how law enforcement fights terrorists as well as demonstrate police crime fighting technology. But from what we can see on social media, for some people the real reason to go to the event will be to get a selfie with one of those ‘polisi ganteng’.
