13 years later, the sequel to ‘Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?’ to begin filming on October 28

Cinta and Rangga from the Line mini-sequel.

Many hopeless romantics were left wondering if Rangga and Cinta would ever see each other again after the conclusion of ‘Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?’ (AADC), arguably Indonesia’s most popular romantic drama of all time.

The film is finally going to get a full-length sequel 14 years later. AADC 2 is scheduled to start filming on October 28.

“Starting Thursday (October 22), we have to head over to Yogyakarta to start filming preparations,” said Mira Lesmana, the movie’s producer, as quoted by Warta Kota on Wednesday.

Mira, who also produced the first AADC, also said that the sequel would be filmed in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and New York among other locations.

AADC 2 is expected to be released nationwide in April 2016.

The main cast, including Dian Sastro (Cinta) and Nicholas Saputra (Rangga), are reportedly reprising their roles in the sequel. Riri Riza, best known as the director of the critically acclaimed ‘Laskar Pelangi’ and ‘Gie’, will direct the sequel.

A mini sequel to AADC (which was actually a long commercial for instant messaging app Line) teased fans about the fate of Cinta and Rangga’s love story when it was released last year.
