These days, there are a lot of pop-up markets in Jakarta (some would say there are too many). But the first, and some would say best, pop-up market in the Big Durian is the still uber-popular Brightspot. The next edition of the event, which they’re calling “Brightspot Pop Up Mall,” is taking place in a massive tent just outside of Senayan City.
Started all the way back in 2009 (ancient history in hipster terms), Brightspot has always been touted as a “four-day market of all things cool.” This year promises over 120 vendors offering “the finest products and fashion you can find in Jakarta and beyond, food market, specialty coffee booth, The Art Dept, loads of Jakarta’s finest DJs… all under one tent.”

It starts tomorrow (Sept 25) with at 6pm with a private opening night for those with an invitation or a BNI credit card (not exactly indie, but a card will get you and 2 other people in, as well as a 15% discount on everything on sale at the market that night).
Brightspot opens up to the plebes from 11am-11pm on Sept 26th – 28th. Entry is Rp. 20k.
