Editor’s Note: The egg — and processed bread and cheese — is on our faces after this very convincing-looking account outed itself as fake. Well played, min.

Original story follows below.

It appears that more American fast food chains are coming our way, as Subway just launched its official Instagram page for the Indonesian market.

The page, @subway_id, yesterday put up three posts, consisting of two logos and a photo of sandwiches in between.

Coming soon to Indonesia, Our Finest Sandwiches #SaatnyaSubway (Time for Subway),” the caption in the first post reads, while the other two proclaims, “Hi Indonesia! Something fun will come to Jakarta! #SaatnyaSubway” in Indonesian.

We have reached out to Subway for detailed information about the opening, such as launch date and store location(s). We’ll update this story as soon as Subway responds.

Founded in 1965, Subway primarily sells submarine sandwiches or subs, salads, beverages, and cookies. Subway is one of the fastest growing franchises in the world, as well as being the largest, with around 41,600 locations in over 100 countries with more than half of them being in the United States.

This wouldn’t be the first time for Subway to land in Indonesia, as it previously operated here from the ‘90s to the mid 2000s. Since the chain left the country, the closest Indonesians have to travel to fill the Subway-shaped hole in their tummies is Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand (though we doubt Subway is the primary reason for anyone to visit those countries).

The second-largest sandwich chain in the US, Quiznos, has established quite a presence in the Greater Jakarta Area since 2016, with locations in East Jakarta’s Rawamangun, Central Jakarta’s Menteng, BSD, and Citra Garden 2 in West Jakarta.

Just last week, another big US fast food chain Taco Bell launched its official Instagram page for the Indonesian market.

There’s been no official word yet on when and where the famous taco chain will open in Jakarta, but netizens have posted shots of what they believe to be the first Taco Bell restaurant currently under construction in the hip neighborhood of Senopati in South Jakarta.
