We’re getting closer to finally experience Taco Tuesdays with Taco Bell, as the American fast food chain has just announced the opening date for its first ever Jakarta store.

In an Instagram story by Indonesian actor Gading Marten yesterday, Taco Bell Indonesia confirmed that its first restaurant in the country will open to the public this Friday.

Since a week ago, the Mexican-inspired chain has been teasing its menu on @tacobellid, starting from the famous Crunchwrap Supreme which appears to be a hybrid of taco and burrito that’s grilled until it’s crispy on the outside, burrito, and crunchy taco. In addition, the account has also been verified by Instagram (unlike a certain fake account for another fast food chain).

The location of the first Taco Bell restaurant in Indonesia has been confirmed to be in the hip neighborhood of Senopati in South Jakarta, which was chosen for its hip hang out cred.

Back in January (or pre-pandemic era in Indonesia), PT Fast Food Indonesia — the franchise holder of Yum! Brands in the country including KFC and Pizza Hut — announced that it will open at least five Taco Bell restaurants in Jakarta starting as early as April, though the plan manifestly didn’t come to fruition. It’s not yet clear if Taco Bell will open more stores elsewhere in the near future.

Taco Bell, which serves dishes such as tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and nachos, is also a subsidiary of the fast food corporation.
