The Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta has officially been extended, starting on April 24 to May 22 or around one day before Eid al-Fitr. That means at least another month of ordering takeaway or delivery from our favorite F&B brands.
We know many of our readers can’t go a day without a cup of es kopi (Indonesian iced latte) routine, but are either hesitant about ordering daily or not used to home brewing. Fret not, you can now stock up for two to three days as most es kopi specialty cafés are now selling their beverages in 1-liter bottles, which are equal to approximately five cups. Just add ice cubes to your glasses before serving, and you’re good to go.
We’ve compiled several of our favorite es kopi places below. For those of you who are fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, these drinks, which are relatively light on caffeine, may make awesome thirst quenchers at the end of every fasting day.
Animo Bread Culture
The bakery that’s famous for its affordable and tasty pastries, bread, and donuts is also known for its light and creamy es kopi. You can now buy or pre-order the Animore lineup, which comprises a 1 liter version of Es Kopi Susu Animo and other milky beverages such as iced chocolate, iced mocha, and iced matcha latte. Animo’s Donat Gemes (Indonesian-style potato donuts), sourdough, as well as breads and pastries are also available for pre-order.

Anomali Coffee
One of Indonesia’s leading coffee franchises has also started selling its bottled es kopi. Choose between Kopi Susu Gula Aren or hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel latte in sizes from 250ml, 1 liter, or 2.2 liter bottles. Other than the es kopi selections, Anomali’s coffee beans are also available for your home brewing needs.

Dibawahtangga
The es kopi brand owned by German-Indonesian actor Nino Fernandez has become one of the most popular these days. You can take home its signature Es Kopi Susu Kampung (Kampung/Village Coffee) in a 1 liter bottle, dubbed Es Kopi Susu Sekampung (meaning es kopi for the whole village, which itself is a nice wordplay), as well as their Kunyit Asem Sekampung (a jamu drink made of turmeric and tamarind with a refreshing taste). By the way, did you know that Dibawahtangga’s first outlet at Gandaria City is located literally under an escalator, thus inspiring the chain’s “under the stairs” name?

Gordon Donuts & Coffee
One of Jakarta’s most well-known donut purveyors is now accepting pre-orders for Bottled Coffee Milk AKA es kopi susu, Bottled Black Coffee, and Bottled Cocoa Milk. Complete your milky beverage with coffee jelly topping, or enjoy Gordon’s premium milk toast for breakfast (or any time of the day, really). Unfortunately, their donuts are not yet available for pre-order, but you can buy them through app-based food delivery services.

Kopi Janji Jiwa
The galau-themed (Indonesian slang meaning “confusion,” but usually associated with heartbreak) es kopi brand is one of the biggest chains in the country. Kopi Janji Jiwa recently hopped on the 1 liter bottle train by releasing its own version, consisting of Kopi Susu, Susu Soklat (Chocolate Milk), Earl Grey Tea, and Earl Grey Milk Tea.

While you can’t work or hang out at Kroma’s cozy outlet, you can still order its es kopi lineup in a 1 liter bottle. The café’s Kopi Susu Rumah (Home Milk Coffee), Kokonut (coffee, cocoa, and hazelnut), and Susu Coklat Rumah (Home Chocolate Milk) are packed in 1 liter jerrycans, which would make a quirky addition to your Instagram stories.

Kopi SANA
Way before everyone else started selling their es kopi in 1 liter bottles, SANA had launched its own version. Other than the original Es Kopi Susu Sana with full cream milk, you can also opt for lighter or vegan-friendly versions using non-fat milk, soy milk, and almond milk. Kopi SANA is one of the first es kopi purveyors in Jakarta, and its caffeine levels are a bit on the heavier side.

Sagaleh
Sagaleh, meaning “segelas” (a cup or a glass) in Minang language, is one of the first es kopi spots to open in Jakarta. Its house blend is a mixture of eight different beans, and it uses regular cane sugar to sweeten the drink. Enjoy 1 liter of Sagaleh’s signature Kopi Susu, Kopi Susu Krimi (the creamier version of their es kopi, sweetened with liquid coconut sugar), as well as Susu Kurma (Date Milk) in the comfort of your own home, available through pre-order.

Toko Kopi Djawa
Bandung’s famous es kopi chain has just opened in Jakarta recently, and you can enjoy its signature drink in a 1 liter bottle as well. Other than the signature Es Kopi Toko Djawa, you can also order Es Kopi Hitam (iced black coffee), Es Kopi Awan (meaning iced cloud coffee, topped with creamy foam), and Es Coklat. Just a heads up, the es kopi may be too sweet especially for those who aren’t yet familiar with Toko Kopi Djawa.

Toko Kopi Tuku
The es kopi pioneers were among the first brands to offer 1 liter es kopi since the beginning of the social distancing period. Their version is called TUKUcur, a portmanteau of Tuku and kucur, which means to pour out in Indonesian. There are three variants of TUKUcur, consisting of Tuku’s signature Es Kopi Susu Tetangga, Cold Brew Tetangga, and iced chocolate. They have recently released TUKU-in — a milk, creamer, and palm sugar concoction for Es Kopi Susu Tetangga — so you can Tuku-nize any black coffee you have at home.
