It’s getting real, folks: Jakartans will soon get a taste of Taco Bell’s famous tacos, as the American fast food chain now has an official Instagram page for the Indonesian market.
There are only three posts on @tacobellid so far, posted in the last week, which combine to form a promotional tease.
“Hello Indonesia! Something’s big and exciting coming your way to Jakarta. Get ready to follow the journey through #WaktunyaTacoBell (Time for Taco Bell)!” the text reads.
There’s been no official word yet on when and where the fast food chain will open in Jakarta, but netizens have posted shots of what they believe to be the first Taco Bell restaurant currently under construction in the hip neighborhood of Senopati in South Jakarta.
Apa lagi nanti area Senopati bakalan lebih rame lagi pas Taco Bell buka deket Taman Suryo (ada drive-thru pula). Sayang aja kalo kawasannya malah makin ga rapi. Padahal potensinya gede banget. pic.twitter.com/GCsLTTt1cW

Back in January (or pre-pandemic era in Indonesia), PT Fast Food Indonesia — the franchise holder of Yum! Brands in the country including KFC and Pizza Hut — announced that it will open at least five Taco Bell restaurants in Jakarta starting as early as April, though the plan manifestly didn’t come to fruition.

Taco Bell, which serves Mexican-inspired dishes such as tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and nachos, is also a subsidiary of the fast food corporation.
“In the first 12 months, we will open five stores in Jakarta. The target market will be middle-class. We chose Taco Bell because their products are good and healthy,” PT Fast Food Indonesia director JD Juwono said at that time.
