It wasn’t an April Fools’ prank. Oat milk brand Oatside has actually launched mini versions of its popular beverages – plus one more new flavor – to the delight of plant-based milk fans in Indonesia.

The Singapore-based company, through its Indonesian TikTok page, posted this video on April 1 announcing the launch of 200-milliliter cartons for the brand’s Barista Blend and Chocolate flavors, as well as a new Coffee flavor.

Today, the term “Oatside Mini” is the top trending topic on Indonesian Twitter (thanks to what looks like a viral marketing campaign – but we’ll let that slide), with posts depicting users getting a hand on the three tiny Oatside boxes bought at their nearest “minimarket” (convenience store) chains. Each carton reportedly costs IDR7,900 (US$0.53).

Oatside was founded in Singapore in 2020, though we were told by the company that it produces the milk it sells in Indonesia at a plant in Bandung, West Java, which is close to a natural spring water source essential for the production of oat milk.

Before the arrival of the tiny cartons, Oatside was sold in 1-liter boxes and came in three flavors: Barista Blend, Chocolate, and Chocolate Hazelnut. The larger cartons cost around IDR48K (US$3.22) each.
