Jakarta is never short of options when it comes to steakhouses, but there is always room for more, especially when they offer something different and unique. That is the case with Gaston, a new restaurant bar that opened in April 2023 at Gandaria City Mall, South Jakarta.

Gaston is the latest venture from GF Culinary, the group behind successful restaurants such as Putien, Ojju, and Shoppa Steak. Gaston aims to bring a French countryside vibe to the urban setting of Jakarta, with its elegant and cozy interior design, featuring wooden furniture, leather sofas, dim lights, and art deco elements.

The menu at Gaston is focused on steak, with the restaurant serving three kinds of delectable ribeye cuts in USDA Choice Entrecôte (IDR325K), Wagyu Entrecôte MB 4 (US$395K), and Wagyu Entrecôte MB 9 (IDR645K). The USDA Prime Flat Iron, the only non-ribeye cut, completes the steak menu at IDR245K. Each comes with unlimited homemade frites and one choice of Gaston’s signature sauces.

Besides steak, Gaston also serves other dishes that are inspired by French cuisine, such as Duck Leg Confit (IDR225K), comprising slow cooked duck leg, celeriac puree, grilled grapes, and Pommes Anna; as well as Fricasée de Poulet (IDR155K), which consists of a pan fried half baby chicken served with truffle mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and creamy white wine champignon sauce.

To complete the dining experience, Gaston offers two dessert options, namely the Citrus Poached Pear (IDR65K), which is served with mascarpone cream, and Pâte à Choux (IDR65K), which is a mini choux pastry filled with brandy or vanilla custard, topped with chocolate and served with almond praline and vanilla ice cream.
