In support of the fairy tale wedding dream of probably no bride or groom out there, McDonald’s has entered the wedding catering business with the launch of its supersized offering in Indonesia.
The wedding catering service, dubbed “Wedding Mekdi” in reference to the Indonesian stylization of the term “McD”, offers various packages that include 100 chicken burgers and 100 four-piece chicken nuggets for IDR3.5 million (US$230).
McDonald’s Indonesia also provides an on-site food stall service for customers who want to have the golden arches featured prominently at their wedding.
In response to customers’ queries on the Instagram post above, McDonald’s Indonesia said its catering services are not limited to weddings, and that customers may contact the restaurant for catering at other large events.
As far as anybody knows, McDonald’s wedding catering service is the first of its kind in the world, which is somewhat surprising because we’re not even in the top 10 of the countries with the most McDonald’s restaurants (no prizes for guessing who tops this list).
That said, we do love buffet spreads at weddings. Whether wedding guests would be lovin’ McNuggets more than some traditional kambing guling (roasted goat) remains to be seen.
