There won’t be a shortage of sourdough-anything in Jakarta anytime soon as Beau Bakery, one of the best-known artisan bakeries in the capital, has launched a secondary line specializing in making pizza and bagels.
Aptly named Beau Pizza and Bagels, the restaurant opened less than a week ago in South Jakarta’s Kemang neighborhood. While Beau Bakery has been serving a variety of sourdough bread loafs and pizza, Beau Pizza and Bagels appears to be more casual than its predecessor.
Beau Pizza and Bagels offers a selection of sourdough bagels that are plain, or sprinkled with sesame seeds, poppy seed, or a combination of the two, that you can buy per piece or in packs of four, eight, to 12 bagels. You can also buy sets of bagels with schmear, or cream cheese spreads, which come in several flavors such as roast garlic and herb cream cheese and scallion tofu cream cheese.
For that transportive daydream experience of enjoying a quick bagel in NYC, you can choose from the restaurant’s bagel sandwiches lineup, such as the Bagel and Lox (IDR95,000), Jambon and Brie (IDR80,000), and the Vegan Pizza Bagel (IDR55,000). Alternatively, there are also bagel platters featuring prosciutto, smoked salmon, as well as corned beef, along with schmears and vegetables or pickles.
If you’re looking for something a bit more filling, opt for the sandwich on the sourdough menu such as Prosciutto, Arugula & Brie (IDR190,000), NYC Reuben on Rye (IDR160,000), or plant-based items such as Caulifornia (IDR75,000) with roasted cauliflower, hummus, arugula, and red onion.
Last but not least, those who are in the mood for sharing can pick something (or two) from the hand-stretched sourdough pizza lineup, from the Pepperoni (IDR125,000), to Miny’s Hawaiian (IDR135,000), to those with plant-based toppings such as Shrooms & Onion (IDR135,000) and Pesto & Arugula (IDR120,000). Vegans, not to worry, the usual mozzarella can be replaced with the vegan version.
Beau Pizza & Bagels is only serving takeaways and delivery orders during the Emergency Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities (Emergency PPKM). Keep in mind that prices on food delivery apps such as Gofood and Grabfood are slightly higher than advertised on the menu.
