We never expected that the absence of an es kopi (iced latte) would break our caffeinated hearts this much, as Japanese convenience store chain Family Mart today announced that they would discontinue their popular Kopi Susu Keluarga (KSK).
No one was prepared to say goodbye to the affordable es kopi, which literally translates to, “family iced coffee,” as the announcement was made via Family Mart’s social media.
“We would like to inform and apologize profusely that one of our products, Kopi Susu Keluarga (KSK), will be discontinued at our stores due to one reason or another. You can still purchase KSK, either in stores or online via ojol (motorcycle taxi delivery service). Thank you for your understanding,” the caption reads.
Rows of “Nooo,” “this can’t be happening,” and crying emojis are filling up the post’s comments section, while some are wondering whether or not this is a part of an elaborate April fools campaign. Some chose to make light of the heartbreaking situation, writing comments such as “KSK has been kicked out of Family Mart’s Kartu Keluarga (Family Card)” and “[the es kopi] is no longer family.”
Kopi Susu Keluarga is known for its affordable price — only IDR13,000 per cup and IDR65,000 for a 1 liter bottle — compared to the usual IDR20,000 per cup and IDR90,000 per liter at other coffee shops. Since it was first introduced to the masses a couple of years ago, many say they prefer KSK to other iced lattes for its blend and creaminess.
To say goodbye to the wallet-friendly es kopi, you can still buy KSK until tomorrow. Sayonara, Kopi Susu Keluarga!
