Apart from some bules (and strangely, some locals too), we all bow down to the king of fruits.
Jakarta’s not exactly known to be a producer of durians, but we do get the thorny fruit shipped from all over the country. That said, we only mostly get the mainstream types like durian monthong and durian Medan sold on our streets.
Great news then for those who want to diversify their durian palate, as Blok M Square is going to hold ‘Durian Fair 2016’ starting from the end of this month.
“This Durian Fair is the first of its kind in Jakarta. We’re bringing in all sorts of durian from around Java,” said Durian Fair 2016 Marketing Officer Oky Syamsul Arifin, as quoted by Kompas Travel yesterday.
Oky added that the fair will boast 20 different types of durian, which are going to be brought in from Mijen, Banjanegara, Banyumas, Pandeglang, and Rancamaya.
If you can’t handle raw durian, then there’s always a wide array of durian desserts such as ice cream, pancake, and sop to choose from at the fair.
‘Durian Fair 2016’ is going to be held at Blok M Square’s Area Outdoor Berlian from February 27th to March 6th. The fair opens from 9 AM to 10 PM.
