Though the bubble tea hype has long passed its peak in Indonesia, that doesn’t seem to have deterred Domino’s Pizza Indonesia from releasing its own version of a dessert incorporating the chewy tapioca balls.
The American pizza chain recently launched Sweet Boba Butterscotch Pizza, which is described as having “sweet and savory sensation,” coming from the combination of the toppings: boba, butterscotch sauce, mozzarella cheese, and sprinkles of icing sugar on the crust.

Prices range from IDR36,500 for a personal pan pizza, to IDR72,500 for a medium-sized classic hand tossed pizza, and IDR77,500 for medium-size crunchy thin crust and PAN pizzas. You can order from Domino’s Indonesia official website or your trusted app-based food delivery services.
The idea of boba topping on warm desserts is not at all foreign in Jakarta, as there are a variety of combos with the likes of toast, pancakes, and even croissants that are offered by bubble tea vendors and cafés throughout the capital.
As alien a concept as it may be, boba pizza was quiet the viral sensation when it was introduced by a restaurant in the city of Chiayi, Taiwan — incidentally the country where bubble tea was invented — in 2018. Domino’s Pizza Taiwan then capitalized on the craze by releasing its Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea Pizza in 2019, which was available for a limited time.
Our neighbors in Singapore are also getting their fast food rendition of boba pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut. The Bubble Tea Blossom Pizza, which was launched recently, consists of toppings of tapioca pearls, mini marshmallows, and mozzarella, with a base made of brown sugar milk tea and a special sauce.
