Attention Steak Lovers: MUI gives Wagyu beef from Japan halal certification

Wagyu beef from Japan is renowned for its quality and is considered by many steak lovers to be the best breed of cow in terms of taste. However, a lack of halal certification has prevented some in Indonesia who might have been interested in trying Wagyu from ordering the meaty treat at their favorite steakhouse.

Well those folks can finally sink their teeth into a tender Wagyu steak as the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued a halal certificate to the Zenkai Meat slaughterhouse in Kumamoto, Japan, last December.

PT Berdikari, a cattle company, says they worked with MUI and Healthy Food Indonesia to take the Japanese slaughterhouse through the long and complex process of acquiring a halal certificate.

The CEO of Berdikari, Librato El Arif, told RMOL Jakarta that those interested in trying the halal Wagyu could find it at steak sellers such as Maestro Meat Market in Kebayoran Baru and Meat Me in Kemang Village.
